The Great Outdoors in Art City: A Complete Guide to Springville’s Parks

by Lori Collins

One of the biggest draws for anyone moving to Springville is our incredible access to outdoor recreation. From hidden neighborhood gems to high-adventure canyon escapes, "Art City" offers a park system that rivals cities twice its size.

Whether you are looking for a place to cool off in the summer, a trail for your bike, or a quiet spot for a family picnic, here is the ultimate guide to the parks that make Springville such a vibrant place to live.

Central & Neighborhood Favorites

These parks are the "living rooms" of our community, located right in the heart of our residential neighborhoods.

  • Memorial Park: The city’s central hub for traditional recreation. Spanning 9.5 acres, it features baseball fields, tennis and soccer courts, and sprawling lawns perfect for local events.

  • Big Hollow Park: A peaceful neighborhood retreat that offers a playground and large open fields, making it a favorite for local families and impromptu soccer matches.

  • Bird Park & Child Park: These charming, smaller spots are tucked away in quiet areas, offering a more intimate setting for a relaxed afternoon or a quick playdate.

  • Springville Splash Pad: Located downtown near the Civic Center, this is the place to be in July! With interactive water jets and a miniature artificial river, it’s a summer staple for local kids.

Adventure & Specialized Recreation

Springville isn't just about playgrounds; we have world-class facilities for those who like to move.

  • Wayne Bartholomew Family Park: This is Springville’s "beach." Located at the mouth of Hobble Creek Canyon, it features a freshwater reservoir for swimming and paddleboarding, complete with sandy shores and beautiful mountain views.

  • Cherry Ridge Hill Bike Park: A newer addition designed specifically for mountain bikers. With various jumps and pump tracks, it’s the perfect place to level up your riding skills.

  • Springville City Skate Park: Known for its smooth concrete and welcoming atmosphere, this park is a top destination for the valley's skateboarders and BMX riders.

  • Spring Acres Arts Park: True to our "Art City" name, this park features a massive outdoor amphitheater that hosts "Movies in the Park" and the world-famous World Folkfest.

The Canyon Escapes (Hobble Creek Canyon)

Just a five-minute drive east, the scenery changes to towering pines and rushing water.

  • Jolley’s Ranch: A massive year-round recreation destination. In the summer, enjoy the premier disc golf course and campsites; in the winter, come back for yurt rentals and cross-country skiing.

  • Kelly’s Grove: The gold standard for family reunions. This scenic park offers five large pavilions, two playgrounds, and plenty of space for large groups to gather under the trees.

  • Rotary Park: Tucked further into the canyon, Rotary Park offers a more secluded, quiet environment for those who want to truly escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy the sounds of the creek.
