Savor the Season: The Relaxed Charm of the Springville City Art Festival

by Lori Collins

If you loved the high-energy spectacle of Art City Days in June, but find yourself craving a more intimate, "slow-living" vibe as the leaves begin to turn, then the Springville City Art Festival is your perfect autumn escape.

Taking place on September 11 – 12, 2026, this festival trade’s the roaring carnival engines for the soft scratching of charcoal and the pleasant hum of community conversation. Held at the picturesque Civic Center Park, it’s a weekend dedicated to the pure, unhurried appreciation of local craft.

### Why We Love the September Festival

While June is about the "Grand," September is about the "Local." This festival is intentionally scaled back to highlight the incredible talent living right here in Utah Valley.

  • The Artist Market: Wander through rows of white tents where local painters, potters, jewelers, and woodworkers showcase their latest pieces. It’s the best time of year to find a unique, one-of-a-kind gift (or a treat for yourself) without the massive crowds.

  • Chalk the Walk: One of the festival’s most beloved traditions! Watch as the sidewalks around the library transform into temporary masterpieces. Local artists of all ages compete to create vibrant, larger-than-life chalk murals that disappear with the next rain but linger in your memory.

  • Live Local Stages: Instead of national headliners, the festival features the "Springville’s Got Talent" showcase and intimate acoustic sets. Pull up a patch of grass near the Gazebo, grab a bite from a local food truck, and soak in the talent of your neighbors.

  • A "Makers" Atmosphere: Many vendors offer live demonstrations. You might see a potter spinning a wheel or a Plein air painter capturing the afternoon light on the Civic Center’s historic bronze sculptures.

### Plan Your Relaxed Weekend

  • Dates: Friday, Sept. 11 (5:00 PM – 9:00 PM) & Saturday, Sept. 12 (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

  • Location: Civic Center Park (110 South Main Street, Springville)

  • Cost: Free admission!

  • Pro-Tip: Saturday morning is the best time to see the "Chalk the Walk" artists in action. If you have kids, head to the splash pad area—it’s usually still warm enough in mid-September for a quick cool-down between art booths.
