Mark Your Calendars: Mapleton’s Must-Attend 2026 Family Events

by Lori Collins

One of the best things about living in Mapleton is that the "small-town feel" isn't just a marketing slogan—it’s something you can feel at our community events. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or you’re looking to move into the area, these local traditions are the perfect way to meet your neighbors and create memories with your kids.

2026 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for our community. Here are the "can't-miss" dates to add to your family calendar!

1. Mapleton Pioneer Days Celebration

Dates: Mid-July 2026 (Main events on Friday, July 24) Location: Mapleton City Park & Ira Allen Park

This is the crown jewel of Mapleton’s social calendar. While many cities have large celebrations, Mapleton’s Pioneer Days feels like a giant neighborhood party.

  • The 5K & Fun Run: Kick off the morning of the 24th with a race that finishes right in the heart of town.

  • The Parade: Grab your lawn chairs early for a spot on Main Street. It’s classic, charming, and full of local spirit.

  • Fireworks: On the evening of the 24th, head to Ira Allen Park. The display is synchronized to music and is widely considered one of the best in Utah County.

2. Moonlight Half Marathon & 5K

Date: Friday, September 25, 2026 Location: Mapleton Parkway Trail

If your family loves a unique challenge, this is it. This race doesn't happen in the heat of the day; it happens under the stars!

  • The Vibe: Participants wear glow-in-the-dark gear and light-up swag.

  • Family Fun: While there is a half marathon for the serious runners, the 5K is very popular for families. The finish line atmosphere at night is electric, with music and a great community "after-party."

3. The Scarecrow Fun Run

Date: Saturday, October 3, 2026 (Tentative) Location: Mapleton City / Local Trails

As the leaves start to turn on Maple Mountain, the Scarecrow Fun Run brings a bit of harvest magic to our trail system.

  • What to Expect: A family-friendly run where "friendly" scarecrows are stationed along the route to cheer you on.

  • Costumes: Many families show up in costume, making it a great "pre-Halloween" warm-up for the kids.

4. The "Lights On" Festival

Date: Late November 2026 (Following Thanksgiving) Location: Mapleton City Park

There is nothing quite like the "Lights On" event to kick off the holiday season. The community gathers at the City Park to flip the switch on thousands of holiday lights that wrap the historic trees.

  • Highlights: Expect live caroling, hot cocoa, and the much-anticipated arrival of Santa Claus. It’s a short, sweet event that captures the magic of winter in a small town.

Why These Events Matter

In a world that's increasingly digital, Mapleton’s events offer a chance to disconnect and enjoy the physical beauty of where we live. As a local realtor, I often tell people that you aren't just buying a house here; you’re buying into a lifestyle where people still wave to each other and gather in the park on a Friday night.
